Who we are
H.A.C.E.R. (Hispanics in Action for Community Education and Rehabilitation) Ministry Corp., is a 501(c)(3) formed in 2009 to serve economically distressed families in Palm beach County, Florida. HACER is a full service agency providing health education, nutrition programs, a full food pantry and affordable housing programs & education for low-income families.
H.A.C.E.R. is comprised of community leaders, businessmen, volunteers and community members with a range of expertise in various fields. Our diversity offers access to a wide network of organizations and services which we use as tools to aid the community. H.A.C.E.R.'s board of directors and staff are predominantly of Hispanic background but our services are offered to all individuals regardless of race, age or ethnicity.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower our community to take ownership of their present, so they can conquer their future. We will offer a variety of educational tools such as health, housing, and finances services, as well as reading and writing workshops. Our vision is to join forces with other entities within our community who share our concerns and commitment to offer better opportunities for children and families.
Vision
To join forces with other entities within our community who share our concerns and commitment to offer better opportunities for individuals and families. The organization envisions Palm Beach County as a place where everyone has the opportunity to live healthy lives, regardless of their income, education or background.
Our History
This social service initiative had its origin a couple of years ago, when members of the West Palm Beach Spanish Seventh-Day Adventist Church saw the need surrounding their area. They joined forces and created services that specifically met the needs of their community. What started as something informal has become an act of faith. Due to the program’s rapid growth, they were prompted to create a formal organization in order to be more structured and efficient; and out of that, H.A.C.E.R. emerged as an essential part of this organizational structure.
Our Goals
Through the Church, H.A.C.E.R. provides a mix of services to economically distressed families at our service center. Services include a food pantry, career- development training, health education and navigation services, child services, and other social services. Although the services are provided through the Church, they are implemented on a non-sectarian, none discriminatory basis.
Additionally, we've provided referrals for over 100 families to Mi Casa, Hispanic Human Resources, Vickers House, and the Urban League to help distressed families acquire homes; we also provide assistance for referrals with eviction prevention and emergency assistance. H.A.C.E.R. has also touched over 1,000 individuals through our informational fairs, toy give-aways, immunizations, clothing give-aways, legal services, professional services, and counseling seminars.
